O projektu Dobri dusi starine

Good Spirits of Antiquity

The first year of European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme in Croatia was 2009. During this year, twelve schools in Croatia took part in the Leonardo da Vinci programme for vocational education and training and Obrtnička škola Koprivnica was one of them.

As participants of the project Dobri dusi starine three students in their final year went to a three-week mobility to Leipzig, Germany to work on the restoration of old buildings.

Sven Škarić (carpenter), Florijan Krivošija and Tomislav Zorman (house-and-woodwork painters) were three of seventeen students from Croatia who participated in this programme during its first year. They were chosen on the basis of their teachers’ references, good grades, reliability, diligence, knowledge of the foreign language and their motivation.

Preparation
A month before the mobility the students took preparation classes (linguistic, cultural, pedagogical, ICT etc) held by teachers Slavko Franjo, Ljiljana Mihalec, Sandra Orošić-Jukić,
Melita Pavlek, Miroslav Potroško and Sandra Sabol.

Mobility
The train journey to Leipzig started in the early morning hours of 4th October in Zagreb and ended at 9 pm in Leipzig. The very next day Florijan, Sven and Tomislav started working for the Nachbarschaftsgärten association. They built a terrace, and restored a room for lessons. Each got a certificate about the done training from the partner institution (Wisamar Bildungsgesellschaft mbH) which organized the training. Wisamar also organized the cultural programme – the students got to know Leipzig and visited Leipzig-Halle airport and the capital of Germany, Berlin. The students contacted the project coordinator and the teachers regularly (via e-mail, phone, SMS etc) reporting news, feelings, problems etc. They filled in Training forms daily which helped to monitor their activities and their progress.

In this project the students enhanced their knowledge and skills in their vocation, and especially their social and communicational skills and the knowledge of the foreign language. Being very good workers, they promoted Croatia positively.

Dissemination

In all the phases of the project Florijan, Sven and Tomislav participated in radio shows on local radio stations and many newspapers covered this topic. After their return from Leipzig they talked about their experiences to other students and teachers of Obrtnička škola.
